Quarterly Security Program Report
A layered view of proactive protection
Executive Summary
Cascade protects EHF's environment through four layers that work together: at the network edge, on every device, in the inbox, and with the people who use them. This quarter, that layered approach held. The malicious sites EHF's devices tried to reach were blocked before a connection was made, the one item flagged on a device was quarantined automatically, and nearly all malicious email was stopped before it reached an employee. Security awareness training is close to full completion, and Cascade is following up directly with the two employees who have not yet finished this year's course.
- 25 of 26 devices protected by CrowdStrike Falcon, with 1 low-severity detection quarantined automatically and continuous human threat-hunting through OverWatch. The remaining device is an unassigned spare that Cascade is bringing into compliance.
- 99.81% of malicious email caught by Microsoft Defender for Office 365: 1,412 phishing attempts and 14 malware messages stopped before or immediately after delivery.
- 9 malicious websites blocked at the network edge by Cisco Umbrella before any device could connect to them.
- 14 of 16 employees (88%) have completed this year's security awareness training at a 92% average score.
- 4.2% company-wide phish-prone rate in simulated phishing testing, well below the 22.5% industry benchmark for similarly sized organizations.
- Across all four layers, no security incident this quarter required remediation.
How Cascade Protects EHF
The path a threat would take to reach EHF, and the layer where Cascade stops it.
Layer-by-Layer Detail
Network Edge
· Cisco UmbrellaCisco Umbrella inspects every DNS request made by EHF's 26 devices, around the clock, and blocks the ones headed to known-malicious destinations before a connection is ever established. This quarter it intercepted 9 such attempts across 4 devices, most of them in August. Each one is a threat that never reached a device or an inbox, which is part of why the device layer had so little to catch.
Device
· CrowdStrike FalconEvery assigned EHF device runs CrowdStrike Falcon, which combines automated detection with OverWatch, a team of human threat hunters who reviewed 284 events across EHF's devices in the past week alone. The quarter's single detection was a potentially unwanted browser extension bundled with a free utility download. Falcon quarantined it on arrival, Cascade confirmed nothing else was affected, and no further action was needed. No threat executed on any device this quarter.

Inbox
· Microsoft Defender for Office 365All 34 monitored mailboxes remained fully protected, with zero unprotected recipients. The 3 messages released from quarantine were legitimate vendor invoices, confirmed by Cascade before release. Nearly all malicious mail was stopped before an employee ever saw it.
Human
· KnowBe4 Security AwarenessThe people who use EHF's systems are the last line of defense for anything that reaches an inbox or a browser. Cascade runs a reminder campaign for anyone who misses the initial training, and 3 employees completed the course this quarter after a reminder. Cascade is following up directly with the 2 employees named above to bring completion to 100% before next quarter. Simulated phishing results, a second measure of this same layer, are on the following page.

Simulated phishing tests measure what training scores can't: what someone actually does when a realistic phishing email lands in their inbox. EHF's phish-prone rate of 4.2% is well below the industry benchmark, and each of the 4 clicks this quarter was a single email opened, not a password or file handed over. Reporting is also strong: employees used the Phish Alert Button 23 times, which helps Cascade spot real campaigns early. Cascade will keep the testing cadence and tailor the next round toward the lure types that drew clicks this quarter.
